PC4uMusic configurations for artistic visions, galleries, attractive bars and modern DJs

PCs that are configured to work in harsh conditions to reliably deliver "untainted" music have been dubbed 4Performance. In galleries and at various art events, the computer is hidden to be as invisible as possible and usually has very poor ventilation. It is even more difficult in a nice bar with a music server on a PC, which has to be close at hand and at the same time interfere with serving guests as little as possible. For events, a laptop is most often used, but it has its limitations when it comes to configuration to optimally play music. The same is true when a DJ uses a computer. However, a PC that can be optimally configured for music playback and is to be frequently transported needs additional structural reinforcement.

The public premiere with practical use of the PC4uMusic configuration took place in the Let's Art Cafe in Sopot, which was part of the National Gallery of Art. The film was shown there with an HD image quality of 1920x1080 and 32-bit sound, which was a challenge for traditional audio-video equipment at the time. This installation was also completely safe for the drinks that were served to the audience.

At the event in AmberExpo we invited artists to collaborate with us on creating new PC visions for music playback. The concept without a housing was created with the Swedish artist Per Dahlberg and was at the center of the stand. An installation with an artistic vision can be made to fit in a gallery or bar

Also presented at this stand was the PC4uMusic Sound Blaster Reference PC @ Gigabyte G1 Sniper 5, plead in a transparent case. It was the first public presentation in Poland of this motherboard with a separate audio section and a built-in the multi-core processor from Creative Technology Ltd. which is designed to provide high-quality, crystal-clear sound without excessively burdening the CPU. A PC in such a case may fit better in a gallery or a bar, so that it does not have to be hidden in a place without ventilation, where a lot of dust accumulates.

In the summer of 2017 World Music in the radio broadcast was played on an early Sunday afternoon in the garden of the Sierakowskich Manor in Sopot with the PC4uMusic configuration for work with the DAB+ USB tuner and the PA sound system (active subwoofer and 2 satellites). The manor house was built in 1714. People could sit there in deck chairs on the sand in the garden and listen to a Polish radio program that has been broadcast for over 30 years. This was the start of the Siesta Time Club project. The PC was additionally secured for transport, which will also work well for DJs. It was in an elegant housing of the HTPC type.

The Siesta Time Club moved with the arrival of autumn to a cozy café in Sopot, where the acoustics were exceptionally friendly and the PC was connected directly to a pair of active speakers. The radio broadcast was played in the evening of another day from a digital recording on the PC. The recording was played back at 32b/192 oversampling and the PC system bus was running at the optimal setting of 384 kHz.

This radio show was also played on-line at Harry's Art & Cafe in the Rezydent Hotel in Sopot, where above the bar in a large room there were a few tables with an intimate atmosphere. for a small group of guests. The PC was connected here to the Bose L1 Compact system with Spatial Dispersion™ Technology, which allowed the music to be well-received throughout the venue, and the small group could calmly concentrate on it more.

Shoes suspended from the ceiling provide proper acoustics in a bar, which is located in the spa house in Sopot. The Sunday afternoon broadcast was opened with a PA system installed here from a 256 kbps internet stream and a PC configured for D/A oversampling 32 bit/192 kHz. In Sopot the spa house  was built in 1824, but the current one is a modern building that was built to replace the one that was destroyed during World War II.

An exceptionally attractive view while listening to this radio broadcast with world music from the Internet was in a café on the top floor of a spa house in Sopot, where an optimally configured laptop was used. The best quality of music playback with it was provided by active 2 way studio monitors from Audio Pro Solutions with Norwegian coaxial electroacoustic transducers.

Listening to this Sunday broadcast in the beachside theatre bar also worked well, with a PC set up for this purpose and connected to the PA system installed there. In the room closest to the bar the music is played very intensely, while on the glass-covered veranda it is more intimate and can be heard from there also on the terrace.

The most intense music from this radio show is presented in a pub at the Sopot train station. The practical knowledge gained in the configuration of sound equipment in these venues was useful for publishing, among other things, an article in the Swedish organ of the International Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians (Organisation Internationale des Scénographes, Techniciens et Architectes de Théâtre).
Laptops are very often used in bars to play music. They can be easily damaged, which also means that at that unfortunate moment, the guests are left without music. This led to the appearance of PC4uMusic Bar PA Server configurations.

There are also many possibilities with the PC4uMusic Disc Jockey PA Music Server configurations
